A mare and foal having a moment on a flooded marsh island. Captured this shot from the boat on the sound side of Shackleford Banks. From the time she brought her head down to meet his, I was the only one around to experience the moment.

I have been photographing these wild ponies my entire life. You come home with a lot of frames of horses standing in grass. A moment like this one is rare.
